L.J Zigerell published a post in the Washington Post’s political science blog, The Monkey Cage, titled “Researchers have a lot of freedom about which findings to emphasize. That can be a problem.”
The post discusses problems that can arise with researchers’ flexibility to report certain results and to not report other results. The post recommends that researchers adopt relatively-new practices in which researchers forfeit some of this flexibility by announcing before a study is conducted the researchers’ plans for data collection and data analysis for the study.
