The Department of Psychology will present a talk titled “Investigating Diverse Types of Social Exclusion” with Eric Wesselmann ’03, M.A. ’05, Ph.D., at 2 p.m. Friday, October 20, in 551 DeGarmo Hall. Wesselmann is the recipient of the Department of Psychology’s 2017 Alumnus of the Year Award.
Wesselmann is an associate professor of psychology at Illinois State University. He publishes research on various topics, such as social exclusion, stigma, and religion/spirituality. He has recently begun empirically investigating the teaching benefits of using popular culture examples in the classroom. He is a fellow of the Society for Experimental Psychology and Midwestern Psychological Association and is on the editorial boards for the Journal of Social Psychology and Small Group Research.
Wesselmann will be recognized at the Department of Psychology’s annual awards ceremony and at the department’s Alumni Day Dinner, which will take place October 20 at Biaggi’s Ristorante Italiano.
