Civic engagement is a way of life for Professor Emeritus George Gordon and wife, Myra Gordon. The two were honored for 45 years of involvement with the local community with the title 2017 Philanthropists of the Year, an award given out by the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation. The Pantagraph highlighted the various ways in which the Gordons have served the community over the years, including, for example, Myra’s role in helping to found Operation Recycle and George’s 20 years on the Mclean County Board.
