Diane Zosky
Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost Jan Murphy named Diane Zosky as interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Illinois State University. She will begin her role July 1, and replace Dean Greg Simpson, who is retiring.
Zosky is currently the director of the School of Social Work at Illinois State, where she also serves as a professor. Before being named as the director in 2012, Zosky was the coordinator of bachelor’s and master’s programs for the school. She also served as interim chair for the Department of History, the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, and the School of Social Work.
Her research explores abuse intervention programs, the LGBTQ community, and the impact of poverty. Her work has appeared in such scholarly journals as the Journal of Human Behavior in the Social Environment, the Open Journal of Social Sciences, the Journal of Teaching in Social Work, and the Journal of Public Child Welfare. A certified Partner Abuse Intervention Professional (PAIP), Zosky is called upon to provide training to area not-for-profits, hospitals, state associations, and violence prevention organizations.
At Illinois State, Zosky is a member of the executive committee of the Institutional Review Board, and the editorial board for the Identity newsletter. In 2013, she served on the President’s Task Force on Diversity, and was a member of the Higher Learning Commission Reaccreditation Steering Committee.
A member of the Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professionals board of directors, Zosky has been awarded the Partners in Peace Award from the Center for the Prevention of Abuse in Peoria, and the Social Worker of the Year Award from the Peoria District of the National Association of Social Workers.
She received a Ph.D. in social work from Loyola University in Chicago.
