Applications are now being accepted for trip advisor positions on upcoming Alternative Breaks trips. This is an amazing opportunity for Illinois State University faculty and staff who would like to help students grow through service learning.
Alternative Breaks are alcohol- and drug-free service trips that take place over winter, spring, and summer breaks. These trips allow students to explore social issues domestically and internationally.
Trip advisors participate in all projects and activities during a trip, encourage students, and assist student leaders when necessary. Trip fees are waived for trip advisors, and advisors are required to be faculty, staff, or a graduate assistant at Illinois State.
“Being a trip advisor with Alternative Breaks is a wonderful opportunity to work with students who are dedicated to serving others and learning more about the importance of community,” said Annie Weaver, a former trip advisor and the current coordinator of student volunteer opportunities at the Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning. “It’s fun to not only learn more about yourself, but also watch students grow and learn themselves.”
Applications are being accepted now for the following trip advisor positions:
- Two trip advisors for Alternative Winter Break International
- One trip advisor for Alternative Summer Break
- 13 trip advisors for Alternative Spring Break
For first consideration, trip advisor applications should be submitted by September 28. Read more about trip advisor duties and apply today!
