John Baur, associate vice president for Research and Graduate Studies, has named Rebekka Darner the director of the Center for Mathematics, Science and Technology (CeMaST) effective July 1, 2019.
Darner joined the Department of Biology at Illinois State University in 2012. Since joining Illinois State University, Darner has served as the principal investigator for ISU’s Noyce Scholarship and ISU’s Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) programs.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in biology from Western Illinois University, Darner earned a master’s degree in ecosystems biology from Eastern Michigan University and her Ph.D. in mathematics and science education from University of California, San Diego, and San Diego State University. She has served as a lecturer for biology at the University of Florida and San Diego City College, and as a post-doctoral research assistant at Purdue University.
