The ISU Annuitants Association (ISUAA) is the local chapter of the State Universities Annuitants Association (SUAA) and serves employees of Illinois State University that participate in SURS, and retirees that receive a SURS pension, their spouses, and survivors. Current employees and retirees are encouraged to become members to support efforts of SUAA in protecting their benefits. ISUAA is not and never has been an organization just for retirees. The recent membership drive held this year has been wonderfully received by employees and retirees, thus far resulting in 84 new members since September of 2018. Many congratulations to new employee members who were the winners in the drawing to receive an Amazon gift card if they joined prior to March 31. The recipients are Kristen Bernas, Susan Blystone, and Bonnie Yedinak.
The ISUAA annual dinner meeting will be from 5:30–7:30 p.m. June 19 at the Alumni Center. The featured speaker will be Vice-President for University Advancement Pat Vickerman. Vickerman will give an update on the $150 million Redbirds Rising: The Campaign for Illinois State, as well as answer questions. Election of ISUAA officers for 2019-2021 will be held.

All current employees and retirees who are not yet members should consider joining ISUAA—which will make them a member of SUAA (State Universities Annuitants Association). SUAA is the only organization in the state actively working to protect the pension system and health care benefits for all who contribute to SURS. Additional benefits of memberships include receiving email briefings affecting members from SUAA and ISUAA, quarterly ISUAA chapter newsletters, quarterly chapter meetings with programs, chapter membership directory, educational programs, and survivor advocacy.
