Besides Commencement, the Homecoming Parade is Illinois State’s longest-standing tradition. Since 1923 (the first unofficial parade year), the parade has grown to be one of the highest attended events during Homecoming week. Even though the rescheduled Homecoming: Redbirds in Flight will be a virtual event, plans are in the works to hold a virtual parade to keep the tradition going.
Illinois State departments, registered student organizations, and community organizations are invited to be a part of the event by submitting a photo or video to include in the virtual parade by Friday, March 5. Photos and videos should be taken horizontally, with the video being no longer than 10 seconds.
This is the event to be creative while showcasing Redbird spirit. The parade can be viewed on Saturday, April 10 with time to be determined.
More events and activities will be announced throughout the coming months. Keep updated on the schedule at Homecoming.IllinoisState.edu or download the Illinois State app for free from the App Store or Google Play Store, and look for the Homecoming guide. Homecoming is also on Twitter too!
