The University Farm at Lexington is looking to update its hay equipment for faculty and staff needs. The farm would like to acquire a wheel rake and a hay tedder.
The rake is the first priority. It costs approximately $10,000 and is used to help gather and cure hay, putting the forage in a tight row before baling.
The hay tedder is the second priority and also costs approximately $10,000. It is used to help spread out the forage for the drying and curing process of the forage.
This equipment will allow student workers at the farm to gain practical experience using the equipment in the field and will help the farm staff be more efficient in producing high-quality forage feed. The equipment will also expand opportunities for faculty teaching and research.
