Leaves changing colors and brisk temperatures remind us that winter is near. As we approach the end of the semester, Career Services is hosting its final career fairs for the fall semester. If you are Redbird student or alum seeking career opportunities or to connect with other professionals in your field, don’t miss out on the following career fairs.
Health and Wellness Career Fair
Held on Tuesday, October 24, the Health and Wellness Career Fair connects recruiters from hospitals and other health organizations seeking to hire candidates interested in full-time employment and internship experiences in health care and related fields.
Virtual Internship and Career Fair
The Virtual Internship and Career Fair, held on Thursday, October 26, allows Redbirds to virtually connect with employers seeking to fill their internships or full-time positions.
Education Career Fair
The Education Career Fair held on Tuesday, October 31, connects school administrators, superintendents, and other employers from the field of education seeking student teachers and candidates in education and related fields for open positions.
“Career fairs provide Redbird students and alumni a chance to identify open positions and network, all in one place,” said Natalie R. Alexander, Career Services associate director.
Recruiters from all industries, including Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and others will be attending to recruit Illinois State talent for their open positions.
“These organizations not only represent a variety of industries, but they are looking for a variety of majors as well,” said Andee Radliff, Career Services assistant director. “We encourage Redbirds from all areas of interest to attend our career fairs to discuss options and opportunities, even with those employers who are not directly in their field. This allows them to not only explore career options, but to also expand their professional networks.”
Fair preparation
To help Redbirds prepare for the fair, Career Services provides the following tips:
- Check out the list of employers attending the fairs and select those you most want to meet. A list of organizations attending is available on the career fair websites and on Hire-A-Redbird. Be sure to visit their website to learn more about them and their open positions.
- Construct an effective résumé and connect with Career Services during drop-in hours for feedback. Virtual assistance is also available.
- Upload your resume into Hire-A-Redbird so employers attending the event can access it.
- Whether you are a student or an alum, connect with your career advisor for assistance on how to navigate the career fairs, describe yourself, and answer other common employer questions.
Spring Career Fairs
If you are unable to attend the last few fall career fairs, Career Services will also be hosting career fairs again in the spring. More information about the fairs and other career events are available on the Career Services website.
