On Tuesday, November 7, the Department of Politics and Government will host “The Israel-Palestine Conflict: The History and the Trajectory.” This event will feature an expert panel on the current Israel-Hamas conflict. Panelists include Drs. Reecia Orzeck (geography), Camille Cole (history), and Ali Riaz (politics and government). The event will address the current humanitarian crisis in Palestine as well as broader issues for democracy in the Middle East.
The panelists have a wide range of expertise on the current and historical crisis. Orzeck’s research specializes in the geography of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the political economy of international law. Cole is a historian of capitalism, law, and empire in the modern Middle East, while Riaz’s work focuses on the health of global democracy and political violence.
The event will take place in Schroeder Hall, room 238, from 1–2:15 p.m. and is open to all Illinois State University faculty, staff, and students of all majors. Attendees are welcome to come with their own questions for the panelists.
