During the second weekend in March 2024, the mock trial team participated in the Opening Championship Rounds (ORCS) of the American Mock Trial Association’s national tournament in Geneva. Although the team did not advance to the next round of competition, it had a respectable showing in a field of highly talented teams from across the country.
ISU tied for 11th place in the 24-team tournament with a 4-4 win-loss record. Illinois State won both ballots against Michigan State University, split ballots with Colorado College and Washington University, and dropped two ballots to New York University.
The top team for the competition was Michigan State. This is the best record the Redbirds have attained at ORCS since 2018.
