Description:
The Department of Agriculture is seeking an IT graduate student as a Graduate Assistant to help with some of the web programming/development tasks. Funding would be available full-time for the entire summer and likely to be extended for fall ’11.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage, develop, and implement custom web and database systems for Department of Agriculture.
- Perform database maintenance/DBA tasks.
- Support and enhance existing web application and database systems.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Dr. Patrick D. O’Rourke.
Required Qualifications:
- Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts
- Thorough working knowledge of databases, database concepts, and SQL.
- Experience developing and maintaining web-based applications.
- Technical Skills:
- Experience in C# / VB.NET, SQL Server – coding skills, and Crystal Reports.
- Microsoft C# / VB .NET 2003, 2005, 2008, 2010
- Microsoft ASP .NET 2003, 2005, 2008, 2010
- Microsoft SQL Server
Desired Qualifications:
- Logical thinking and troubleshooting skills necessary to remedy software and hardware issues.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Experience with simulation software would be a plus but not required.
