Illinois State University is gearing up for one of its annual fall traditions: Family Weekend. Set to take place September 13-15, this event invites families and supporters to campus to enjoy various activities and create lasting memories with their Redbird.

Family Weekend provides families the opportunity to witness firsthand the campus life their students are a part of, engage with faculty and staff, and connect with other Illinois State families. For students, it’s an opportunity to show their loved ones the place that has become their home away from home and to share the excitement of their college journey.

During the weekend, a variety of free and ticketed activities are planned across campus including:

  • Trivia with comedian Brian O’Sullivan hosted by the University Program Board on Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Prairie Room, Bone Student Center
  • Parent and Family Services Open House Tent on Saturday from 10 a.m.-noon on the Turner East Lawn
  • Redbird football vs. Western Illinois on Saturday at noon at Hancock Stadium (ticketed event)
  • Dinner and Dueling Pianos on Saturday at 4 and 7:30 p.m. in the Brown Ballroom, Bone Student Center (ticketed event)
  • Murray the Magician on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Braden Auditorium, Bone Student Center (ticketed event)

Throughout the weekend, families and students can also enjoy the Laser Fantasy show at the Illinois State University Planetarium (ticketed event), Awestruck 2024 – Annual Autumnal Festival at the Horticulture Center (ticketed event), exhibitions at the University Galleries, and the Family Weekend Scavenger Hunt. The full schedule of events and ticket information is available on the Family Weekend website.
