Meghan Leonard, POL, was awarded a Small Research Grant from the American Political Science Association (APSA).
William Cupach, COM emeritus , was inducted into the Central States Communication Association’s (CSCA) Hall of Fame.
James Stanlaw and Doug Dowell, SOC, are both 2015 Impact Award winners. The award, based on student nominations, recognizes faculty and staff who have had a significant impact on a new student.
The WGLT News Department has been honored with the 2015 Kaleidoscope Award for reporting cultural diversity during 2014. The award was developed by the Radio Television Digital News Association with UNITY: Journalists for Diversity. The award was given for reporting including a series on police and race in Bloomington-Normal, stories about the experiences of African-Americans in McLean County, and reporting on immigration and LGBT issues.
WGLT has also been honored with two national Edward R. Murrow awards for journalistic excellence by the Radio and Television Digital News Association for the news series “Police and Race in the Twin Cities.” The awards are in the News Series and Investigative Reporting categories. A documentary based on that series was given a first place award in the annual Public Radio News Directors Incorporated contest.
Jean Ann Dargatz, Office of the Provost, Julie Navickas, COM, and Shelley Braxton, Parking and Transportation, have been selected as members of the Leadership McLean County class of 2016.

Shawn Hitchcock, CHE, presented “Asymmetric Synthesis of the HIV Protease Inhibitor Nelfinavir,” at the 2015 Spring Symposium & Student Research Conference in STEM hosted by the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation in Tinley Park.
Timothy Lash, CHE, made several presentations at the 249th American Chemical Society National meeting, including “Synthesis of Rhodium(III) Azuliporphyrins,” “Synthesis of Neo-Confused Porphyrins,” and “Development of a Carbatripyrrin Strategy for Synthesizing Carbaporphyrinoid Systems.”
Sally Gibson, Milner Library, presented “From Problem Solvers to Solution Creators: Shifting Roles of Technical Services” at the Association of College & Research Libraries 2015 conference in Portland, Oregon.
Kathleen Lonbom, Milner Library, presented “Collaborating to Create Audio Access for Digital Image Collections” at the 2015 Multiple Perspectives on Access, Inclusion, and Disability Conference at The Ohio State University.
Nathan Hartman, MQM, presented at the 30th Annual Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) conference in Philadelphia. He presented on the topic of his two recent studies pertaining to the mission of SIOP.
T.Y. Wang, POL, presented the co-authored paper “The Transformative Effects of Cross-Strait Contacts on Taiwan Citizens’ Identity” at the 2015 Japanese Association of Electoral Studies Annual Conference in Kumamoto, Japan.

Eric Willey, Milner Library, published the informational piece “Using the Illinois Digital Archives as a Genealogical Research Tool” in Illinois State Genealogical Society Quarterly, Spring 2015, and presented as part of the “Networking Your Way into the Profession: How to Secure Paid Work through Internships” panel at the Midwest Archives Conference 2015 annual meeting.
Ed Hines, EAF Distinguished Professor emeritus, authored “The Illinois State University Civic Chorale: A Proud Past and a Promising Future,” a history of the vocal ensemble open to students, faculty, staff, and community members. Hines and his wife, Judy, have been members of the Civic Chorale since 1985.
