Illinois State University President Larry Dietz has appointed Greg Alt to a fixed term as continuing vice president for Finance and Planning through December 2017. That appointment took effect October 1.
Alt has served as the interim vice president since February 2014. Dietz made the announcement during the annual State of the University address.
“Greg Alt has been an integral part of Illinois State’s finance leadership for more than two decades,” said Dietz. “He has earned the trust and respect of the campus community, and during these chaotic economic circumstances, I can’t think of anyone better suited to navigate the fiscal maze in Springfield.”
Alt is responsible for overseeing the University’s budget and capital financing; the Comptroller’s Office; Human Resources; Administrative Technologies; Planning, Research and Policy Analysis; and Facilities. He also serves as the treasurer for Illinois State’s Board of Trustees.
A graduate of Illinois State, he received his master’s in business administration and his bachelor’s in accounting. He is a certified public accountant and has worked for KPMG, formerly Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. in Denver, Colorado.
