Associate Professor of Philosophy Daniel Breyer will present the next University Club talk with “Thinking About Anger in Troubled Times,” at 4:30 p.m. in the Faculty/Staff Commons of the Bone Student Center.
“In a single moment of anger, we can destroy a lifetime of effort, ruining not only our own lives, but also the lives of those we love. This is why ancient philosophers like the Buddhist Śāntideva and the Stoic Seneca argued that we should completely eliminate anger from our lives,” said Breyer, whose presentation will consider reasons for and against the elimination of anger.
All faculty, staff, annuitants, and guests are welcome to attend in a very informal and relaxed atmosphere from 3:30-5:30 p.m. In addition, snacks and liquid refreshments are available.
