Dallas Long, associate dean of Milner Library, was recently informed that his dissertation has been selected by the American Library Association to be featured in the May/June issue of American Libraries.

Presentations
Ali Riaz, POL, presented the keynote paper, “Religion in Public Life in Bangladesh,” at the roundtable Drivers of Violence and Conflict in Bangladesh: Evidence-based research and Understanding in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The round table was organized jointly by the RESOLVE network, based in Washington D.C., and Brac Institute of Governance and Development, based in Dhaka. Riaz also delivered a lecture at the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Dhaka University titled “Challenges of Social Science Research in Bangladesh.”

Elizabeth Batiuk, MUS, presented the paper “Calling the Ancestors to Dance: Musical Style, Embodiment, and Community in abakuá Folklore of Cuba,” at the annual meeting of the Midwest Chapter of the Society for Ethnomusicology.

Erika Hunt, COE, presented on a keynote panel, “Alignment Across Early Childhood, K-12 and Higher Education: What Can This Look Like and How Do We Get There?” at the Spring Into Action Conference by Illinois Action for Children in Springfield. She also presented on a panel titled “Education Leadership: Collaboration Between States and Higher Education: Examples from the Field” at an AIR University Principal Preparation Initiative: State Professional Learning Community meeting in New York.
