Q-and-A with John Moran: Glass artist’s provocative works focused on school shootings, bin Laden
John Moran, a studio glass artist set to graduate in May from the M.F.A. program, has received two Friends of the Arts grants during his three-year career at Illinois State. The latest grant supported his M.F.A. thesis show back to school, which was shown in early April at University Galleries.

Nancy O’Neill, a senior music education major in the College of Fine Arts, has been selected for a 2013-2014 Fulbright Student Scholarship to study at the Resonaari School in Helsinki, Finland, and its use of new technologies to teach special needs students.
Students take second at risk management competition
A team of four students from the Katie School of Insurance and Financial Services recently took second place at the Risk and Insurance Study Center/Spencer RMI Challenge at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Alternative Spring Break
What are ISU students doing this Spring? Participants in Alternative Spring Break travel across the country to help meet critical needs in various communities. Nearly 1,000 ISU students have participated over the past decade helping rebuild homes for storm victims, tutoring teenage refugees, working with families with medical concerns, and more.
2013 John Bates Clark Award
The American Economics Association awards the John Bates Clark medal for achievement to a young scholar in economics. Raj Chetty, a 33 year old economist at Harvard University, has been selected for the award. His influential research in public economics covers tax policy, savings behavior, and education.
Family and Consumer Sciences dietetic interns receive garden grant
Dietetic interns in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences have received a $500 grant to help lead the garden project at Calvary United Methodist Church.
