Department of Philosophy to host ‘God Debate,’ March 27

The Department of Philosophy, along with the Illinois State University Philosophical Society and the Religious Studies Faculty Forum, will sponsor “The God Debate: Gratuitous Suffering and the Problem of Evil,” which will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27, in 130 Schroeder Hall.

ISU starts teacher education in computer science program

Technology Professor Anu Gokhale and Philosophy Professor Emeritus Kenton Machina are starting a program in teacher education in computer science (TECS) with the help of the National Science Foundation, which will provide $700,000 over three years for the new project.

Philosophy Department to host religious education conference

On October 25 and 26, the Department of Philosophy and the religious studies program will host a two-day conference on religious education. This conference will be free and open to the public, and will be funded by the Shaw Teaching Fellowship that was awarded to Professor Daniel Breyer last year.
