Laughter, romance, and political intrigue await you this summer at the nationally renowned Illinois Shakespeare Festival (ISF) with three artistic offerings including two Shakespeare plays—a sophisticated comedy and a bloody tragedy—as well as a world premiere of a new adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility. Performances run from June 26 through August 3.

Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Ani Yazedjian has announced Dr. Scott R. Irelan as dean of the Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts, effective July 1.

The ‘fork in the road’ has led the School of Theatre and Dance to their latest show: In Pieces

A mostly pitch-black space with a collage of actors from the production cast in shadows. They are each posed differently and seen from the waste up. The lights that illuminate them are bright colorful hues of green, yellow, blue, purple, pink, orang, and red.

This March, the School of Theatre and Dance presents In Pieces, a new contemporary musical, written by Joey Contreras and directed by M.F.A. in directing candidate Al Oltmanns with musical direction by Dr. Matthew Vala. It is a story of love, loss, and the paths that we take in life that can separate us and bring us back together.

‘Live at the Bone’: Applied Voice students entertain coffee shop patrons

Freshly brewed coffee, a welcoming environment, and good music are common characteristics of a coffee shop. Students in Dr. Matthew Vala’s applied voice class are creating a melodic ambiance by serving up live performances on the stage next to Starbucks in the Bone Student Center.
