Early childhood education online workforce program makes dreams come true

At 41, Stacy Lamoreux didn’t think she’d ever get her teaching degree, even though she wanted to be a teacher since second grade. For seven years she operated a daycare, but the long hours and stress were wearing on her. And then she heard about the new Early Childhood Education Online Workforce Program that would allow her to earn her bachelor’s degree online.

The International Association of Laboratory Schools (IALS) is an organization for laboratory schools and partnerships around the world. I was invited to join its board of trustees when I served as acting director of the Illinois State University Laboratory Schools (Metcalf School and University High School).  

Faculty awarded editorship of prestigious national journal

Faculty from Illinois State University’s School of Teaching and Learning and the Department of English have been awarded the editorship of the international peer-reviewed journal, Literacy Research: Theory, Method and Practice (LR:TMP) of the Literacy Research Association (LRA).

Building the bilingual education community

Bilingual education candidates and faculty came together at the beginning of the spring semester to share space during the first annual Bilingual Education Social. The idea came from students who voiced the need to build community within the College of Education.  Cithlali Vazquez, a bilingual cohort candidate, was grateful for the support from faculty and
