OSF-ISU 30-Day Readmission Data Science Competition winners announced

The crescendo of the fall 2023 semester was the eagerly anticipated OSF-ISU Data Science Competition, titled “OSF 30-Day Readmission.” The competition, jointly supported by OSF and Illinois State, challenged 14 teams to create predictive models determining whether a patient discharged from OSF HealthCare would be readmitted within 30 days. The competition was intense, with six finalists emerging from a pool of strong contenders, boasting impressively close scores.  

College announces new internal research grant program

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is excited to announce a new internal research grant opportunity—the Dean’s Research Challenge Grant. Full-time CAS faculty from all college divisions, including Visiting Professors and non-tenure track faculty, are eligible to apply. The Principal Investigator’s (PI) primary appointment must be in a CAS unit. Interdisciplinary teams are encouraged, and teams can have non-CAS members.

Ambassador Geeta Pasi to deliver lecture on November 13

Ambassador Geeta Pasi (retired), Inaugural Donald F. McHenry Visiting Professor in Diplomacy and International Affairs, will deliver a lecture, “Representing America Abroad: Telling our story, advancing American interests, and serving Americans,” at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 13 in the Circus Room in the Bone Student Center. Her talk is free and open to the public.
