Numbers can be a lot of fun.
Earlier this year, our friends in Planning, Research, and Policy Analysis shared some interesting facts about Illinois State’s student body, like that Jessica was our most popular female student name, and that the two high schools that sent us the most Redbirds were both in Naperville. (Go see them all.)
But what about Illinois State’s 3,600+ faculty and staff? The STATEside crew teamed up with Human Resources and found nine surprising stats about Illinois State’s employees, as of this past July.
Our longest serving employee has worked at Illinois State for 46 years (!!!).
There are 11 employees with Leap Year Day birthdays in February.
Once a Redbird…
In total, there are 747 employees who are also Illinois State alumni, with degrees on record. Many have multiple degrees from ISU.
The most popular birth month for Illinois State employees is July.
Cool job titles
Illinois State has the diversity of a small city in its job titles, employing individuals such as police officers, carpenters, a horticulturist, curators of art, a pharmacist, scientific artist, and coordinator of energy education, just to name a few.
Top of their field
There are 925 faculty, staff, or administrators who hold a doctoral or terminal degree in their field.
Worth the trip
There are 526 full-time employees who travel from outside McLean County (where Bloomington-Normal is located) to work for Illinois State.
Read all about it
Illinois State’s faculty and staff are pretty well-read. Last year, faculty and staff accounted for over 16,300 checkouts from Milner Library alone.
955 faculty and staff members ate at Illinois State’s dining centers in October, as part of a special Homecoming discount for employees.
Thanks to Milner Library Dean Dane Ward and Brett Swigart from Campus Dining Services for their help.
