Berry Grass will give a reading for their book Hall of Waters at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 10 at the University Galleries, 11 Uptown Circle, #103, in Normal.
Hall of Waters uses lyric essay and memoir to demythologize the rural American Midwest. Grass speaks to their hometown, Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Published by The Operating System (part of the Kin(d)*: Titles from Transgender, Genderqueer, and NonBinary Creators + series), the book is recommended by Ms. Magazine as an August 2019 featured title.
Grass’ essays and poems appear in DIAGRAM, The Normal School, Barrelhouse, Sonora Review, BOAAT, and The Wanderer, among other publications. They are a 2019 nominee for the Krause Essay Prize.
