AsiaConnect is asking everyone to celebrate Asian Heritage Week with shared experiences.
Everyone can participate in Asian Heritage Week, running from April 13-17, via the organization’s Facebook page.
“We want people to create a Facebook post to showcase experiences with an Asian culture,” said AsiaConnect Vice President Dr. Li Zeng. “It can be an Asian country where you have travelled to in the past, a traditional Asian food you have tried or cooked, an Asian movie you would recommend, or a book about an Asian country that you have read.”
AsiaConnect President Archana Shekara noted the post should provide some description through written text, photos, and/or short videos. “Asian culture touches so many parts of our lives. We want people to share and celebrate that culture,” said Shekara. “The week is a wonderful opportunity for cross-cultural awareness and supports ISU’s core value of Diversity and Inclusion.”
Participants can directly post on the AsiaConnect Facebook page, or tag AsiaConnect Facebook between April 13–17 with the hashtag #MyAsianCulturalExperience. Anyone who posts will be entered into a prize drawing. Support for AsiaConnect comes from the Office of the Provost and the Office of International Studies and Programs.
Those with questions can reach out to Shekara at ashekar@ilstu.edu or Zeng at lzeng@ilstu.edu.
