The First-Generation Triumph Podcast in-person launch event will be at 3 p.m. September 7 in the Old Main Room of the Bone Student Center with guest panelists kicking off the first live discussion.
“The purpose of the podcast is to elevate the voices of first-generation students and their lived experiences,” said senior Makiah Watson, a senior intern with the TRIO Student Support Services program, who is hosting the podcast. “As a first-generation student I know first-hand the liberation that comes with the power of an elevated voice.”
The podcast will focus on the social and cultural capital that first-generation students bring to the college culture.
The launching event is open to the entire campus community. Those who are first-generation students and alumni can fill out an interest form to stay connected with the First-Generation Triumph Podcast.
