The College of Applied Science and Technology and the Department of Agriculture are sincerely grateful for the recent investment by Compeer Financial that contributed to a complete renovation of the Farm classroom. The ribbon was cut on October 12, 2021, in a formal ceremony attended by representatives of Compeer Financial, the College of Applied Science and Technology, and the Department of Agriculture.

The newly named Compeer Financial Classroom is where approximately 200 students learn each semester. Courses taught in this classroom include Introduction to animal science, pesticide identification and management, soil and water conservation, advanced agronomy, geospatial technology in agriculture, applied reproduction/livestock breeding, and livestock management. In addition, approximately 2,000 guests per year visit the Farm facility for a variety of events and educational opportunities.

In addition to providing support to renovate the classroom, Compeer Financial also sponsors the John Leatherbury Scholarship. This year’s $1,500 scholarship was awarded to Karah Thomas, a senior in agriculture communication and leadership.

“We are very grateful for the investment by Compeer Financial in our facility and in our students,” said Todd McLoda, dean of the College of Applied Science and Technology. “Their generous financial support helped us revitalize the Farm classroom, address accessibility concerns, and create a welcoming space for agriculture faculty, staff, students, and guests.”
