Illinois State Athletics will hold the annual Pride Night on Friday, February 4, at the women’s basketball game versus the Evansville Purple Aces. Tip-off with the Purple Aces is set for 6 p.m. at Redbird Arena.
Pride Night will recognize LGBTQ+ efforts in the Bloomington-Normal community, shining a light on education, resources, and events on ISU’s campus. Illinois State Athletics aims to foster an inclusive environment characterized by cultural understanding, respect, and social justice. ‘
Fan giveaways will include:
- Rainbow masks courtesy of the Prairie Pride Coalition (While supplies last)
- Pride Flag flyer including local campus/community resources (While supplies last)
Fundraising will also take place for the LGBTQ+ Student Support Endowment which provides support for educational programming related to LGBTQ+ topics. In addition, student scholarships and emergency financial assistance may be provided for students who are not receiving sufficient financial support based on life circumstances and/or a member of a group that supports LGBTQ+ issues.
The Alamo II will be at the game with a variety of Illinois State Pride items available for purchase.
