The Spring 2022 International Seminar Series, “ISU International Engagement,” will focus on developing international partnerships on Wednesday, February 2, from noon–1 p.m. Central Time via a live Zoom webinar. The event is free and open to the public with advance registration.

The seminar will expand on the partnerships between Illinois State University and partners around the world: What partnerships do we have, how do they develop, and why?

The seminar will be presented by Matt Schwab ’07, M.S. ’09, associate director of International House and special programs at Illinois State University. Schwab has a long history with Illinois State University and international education. After graduating from Illinois State with a bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish, he proceeded to earn his master’s degree in college student personnel administration (CSPA). He also worked with the Middle Eastern Partnership Initiative (MEPI) program at Benedictine University. In January 2012, he joined Illinois State’s Office of International Studies and Programs as the coordinator of the International House Program.

With 10 years of experience in the field of International Studies, Schwab has been involved in the creation and execution of programs with partner institutions and governments all over the world. He has engaged in recruitment efforts in Central America, East Asia, Europe, and North Africa, and has hosted institutional delegations from several countries including China, Germany, Haiti, Panama, Russia, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam. He is an active member of NAFSA: Association of International Educators and of International Educators of Illinois (IEI).
