LaLa Ri, named Ms. Congeniality of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13, will headline the 23rd annual Charity Drag Show at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, in the Brown Ballroom of the Bone Student Center at Illinois State University.
Tickets for the evening, which is presented by Pride, are available at the Braden Box Office for $7 for students and $10 for the general public. Students must purchase tickets at the box office located at the Welcome Desk on the first floor of the Bone Student Center. Online tickets can be purchased here.
The event will feature new performers and area drag show royalty, including Sharon Sharealike, an Illinois State alum and mother of the House of Sharealike. Alumni Engagement will host a pre-show and intermission reception. Information is available here.
Please remember that tipping is part of drag culture, so come with your singles ready. Proceeds from the Drag Show will benefit the LGBTQ+ Support Fund.
Also present at the show will be Central Illinois Friends, an organization that aims to provide preventive health services and sexual health education by providing resources to those experiencing barriers to accessing services. They also work to increase HIV/STI awareness, prevention, and treatment. Central Illinois Friends will also have an STI testing mobile unit at the Drag Show to provide free, discreet, and confidential services.
