Illinois State University’s Women’s History Club will host speaker Dr. Martha Horst at 7 p.m. Monday, March 21 in Schroeder Hall, room 106. Horst will be discussing women and music composition.
Horst is a composer who has devoted herself to the performance, creation, and instruction of classical music. Her music has been performed by groups such as the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, Fromm Players, Spectral Quartet, CUBE, Chicago Composers Orchestra, The Women’s Philharmonic, and members of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
Horst currently teaches composition and theory at Illinois State University. She currently serves as the Composer-in-Residence at the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra. She earned a Ph.D. in music theory and composition from the University of California, Davis.
