Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Dr. Aondover Tarhule will be featured in the spring 2022 International Seminar Series: ISU International Engagement.

The final event in the Illinois State University Spring 2022 International Seminar Series, ISU International Engagement, will be held Wednesday, April 20, from noon–1 p.m. Central Time with a presentation by Illinois State University Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Dr. Aondover Tarhule giving his vision of “The Future of ISU International Engagement.”

This seminar will be presented live in the Old Main Room of the Bone Student Center, with a simultaneous Zoom stream. The event is free and open to the public with advance registration. Those who register to attend in person will enjoy a free buffet lunch. Both the online and in-person attendees will be able to participate in the question-and-answer session at the end of the presentation.

This presentation is the concluding event in a series that has highlighted the many ways in which the Illinois State University community is globally connected, whether through institutional partnerships, incoming international students and scholars, and faculty and staff participating in education abroad.

Tarhule has been involved in shaping the future direction of Illinois State’s internationalization since he assumed his role in the summer of 2020. Earlier this year he announced that he would be combining “all international programs under one entity renamed the Office of International Engagement (OIE). The new name will take effect on July 1, 2022. The OIE will absorb all the staff, resources and programs of the Office of International Studies and Programs and International Pathways units.”

In addition to Tarhule, the seminar will include a virtual appearance by Dr. Roopa Rawjee, assistant vice president in the Office of  Global Services at Northeastern University in Boston. Illinois State University Associate Provost Dr. Ani Yazedjian recently announced that Rawjee would become the first executive director of the newly formed Illinois State University Office of International Engagement on July 1, 2022. In her first campus appearance since accepting the role, Rawjee will share her vision for the University’s international engagement.

Anyone with questions or requiring an accommodation to participate fully in this event should contact InternationalSeminar@IllinoisState.edu or (309) 438-1651.
