Dr. Meghan Leonard published an article in the Justice System Journal titled “State Supreme Court Responsiveness to Court Curbing: Examining the Use of Judicial Review.”

Leonard examines if and how state courts react to legislation that would weaken the court as an institution or change how it can make decisions. She finds that state courts do not change their behavior in response to this legislation. But, state courts, as research has often demonstrated, do change their behavior based on the ideology of the state legislature.
