Illinois State University’s Pride and Drag Royalty will present the 24th Annual Charity Drag Show: A Galactic Performance from 7-11 p.m. Saturday, April 8, in the Brown Ballroom of the Bone Student Center.
Host Sharon Sharelike ’94, MFA ’98 will welcome the talent of performers The Vixen, Auntie Heroine, Mahogany Knight, Freddie Fahrenheit, Portia Lynn Snaps, Selena Rivera, Azula Lynn, Izzy Fierce, Lola Zahor, and Star Lyht.
Proceeds from the event will go to the LGBTQIA+ Support Fund.
Tickets can be purchased at the Welcome Desk of the Bone Student Center, on Ticketmaster, or by calling (309) 438-4636. Tickets are $7 for students, and $14 for the general public. Ticket fees may occur if purchasing via Ticketmaster.
The Vixen
The Vixen competed in the 10th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, coming in seventh. She created BlackGirlMagic, a drag concert where queens of color can celebrate their unique experiences through storytelling and performance. Growing up on the South Side of Chicago, her art has always been intertwined with social justice and activism. An accomplished drag queen, songwriter, fashion designer and dancer, The Vixen credits her creative family for her love of the arts.
Informational tables from organizations will be open before and during the show. Central Illinois Friends will offer STI testing from 6-7 p.m. in their mobile unit. Their services are free, discreet, and confidential.
