With the start of the new year, many people are motivated to make changes in their life that will positively impact their health and well-being, such as trying to eat healthier, increase physical activity, manage stress, sleep better, or improve their relationships. Getting started can be hard, and maintaining these behavior changes can be even more challenging. Having a wellness coach to help guide and support you can increase your ability to be successful. At Illinois State University, students, staff, and faculty have access to this resource for free.

Health Promotion and Wellness has National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching certified wellness coaches. You will meet one-on-one with a coach, who will get to know your strengths, challenges, interests, and what you want to get out of the coaching process. The coaches will help you to develop a vision and a plan for making the changes that you are ready for, which will include goals and methods to help keep you accountable and able to track your progress. There are a variety of tools that our coaches utilize to help you explore which changes you are most ready for, excited about, and to help you build the capacity and self-confidence to be successful.

If you are ready to give wellness coaching a try, all you need to do to get started is to go to our Health Promotion and Wellness website.

Click on the link for wellness coaching, and when you get to that page, you will see another link that directs you to log in with your Illinois State University ULID and password. Once there, you will be prompted to read and sign an agreement form, and then answer some questions that will give your wellness coach background information about you. Once you submit that material, you will be contacted via email to confirm that we received your information and who your wellness coach will be. Your coach will then follow up with you to start the process by setting up your first meeting over Zoom.

It’s that simple. Wellness Coaching might be the support you need to get started on the path to a healthier and happier life. For additional information, please contact us at (309) 438-well (9355).
