A review of the general education curriculum commenced in fall 2019 at the request of the Council on General Education. In September, the campus held two town hall meetings to receive input from the campus community on a draft proposal. An online feedback survey was also conducted at that time.

Since October, the executive committee of the General Education Revision Task Force has been carefully reviewing the feedback it received. The committee is currently engaged in making carefully considered and appropriate adjustments to its proposal and hopes the proposal will be completed by the end of the fall semester. At that point, the proposal will move forward for consideration by the Council on General Education, the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, and the Academic Senate as part of the standard shared governance process to ensure that the proposed changes to the general education program align with the broader academic goals and standards of Illinois State University.

Students, faculty, and staff may communicate with the executive committee with any questions they might have about this process by sending an email to generaleducation@IllinoisState.edu.
