Politics and Government Associate Professor, Dr. L.J. Zigerell published an article in The Forum, titled “Racial Bias and U.S. Presidential Candidate Preference.” The article uses data from American National Election Studies Time Series Studies to estimate the net influence of racial bias on the two-party vote choice for U.S. president.
Among other findings, the research indicated that, for the 2020 U.S. presidential election, respondents who did not express a racial favoring on feeling thermometer ratings about racial groups were more likely to report voting for Donald Trump, relative to respondents who expressed a racial favoring on feeling thermometer ratings about racial groups.
