Employee savings options updated: Illinois State University is committed to supporting your retirement planning goals by offering a 403(b) Plan with an array of well-reviewed investment options. As part of our responsibilities as plan administrator and as a result of extensive planning over the past year in consultation with an independent investment consultant group, Illinois State University has determined that effective March 1, 2024, both the current Fidelity investment menu and TIAA investment menu will be updated to enhance opportunities to invest with a streamlined menu of options. Additionally, if you would like to schedule time with a representative, you can reach out to them directly through either Fidelity’s online scheduling tool or through TIAA’s online scheduling tool.

SURS rule change positive for part-time employees: New legislation amends the SURS Article of the Illinois Pension Code to change the method in which service credit is granted and eliminates the part-time adjustment for participants of SURS on or after September 1, 2024. These changes are beneficial to employees upon retirement. Questions should be directed to SURS at (800) 275-7877, and you can read more about this on the SURS website.

Several employees make an impact: The Founding (formerly Founder’s Day) saw many faculty and staff receive recognition for their contributions to campus. These included the distinguished service award winning staff from both Civil Service Council and AP Council, as well as the announcement of the Team Excellence Award Winners from the Pass-it-on free-cycle program. HR was proud to have folks on each of the selecting bodies/councils and will be processing awards for all the selected members following the announcements.

Learning and development: Monthly, a calendar of some highlighted offerings are sent to deans, directors, and department heads for review and distribution to their teams. In addition, the Human Resources Learning Calendar features training toward a leadership certificate, sessions for customer service and common office tools, financial wellness, communication and connection, and more. The calendar features options for both in-person and virtual learning and development and works to catalog learning from other units on campus and make them available and known to all faculty, staff, graduate assistants, and student employees. Next month we hope to highlight our Leadership Certificate Program that is wrapping up for the 2023-24 cohort.
