Milner Library is pleased to partner with Illinois State University instructors to apply for grant funding to support the development of open education resources (OER). The Illinois Secretary of State/Illinois State Library seeks applications for the development of textbooks and ancillaries as open educational resources to ultimately reduce students’ costs and encourage student success.
Grant applications are being accepted to:
- Author – Create and adopt a substantially new open textbook or open course where it is possible to demonstrate that quality resources are not currently available to meet learning objectives.
- Revise/Remix – Update existing OER with major revisions or develop custom course content from multiple open educational resources and original open content to support learning objectives not met by existing open resources.
- Ancillaries – Adopt existing OER and create ancillaries such as quiz banks, lecture slides, or lab manuals.
- Update – Update and adopt existing OER that requires minor editing for currency or relevance, without major changes to the content or structure.
Please note that as part of the state requirements for the grant, a Milner Library faculty member is required to be co-principal investigator. Ideal applications will be for courses that have sizable enrollment and are offered frequently, such as general education, core courses, and research methods. Any faculty, AP, or CS employee who teaches is eligible to collaborate with Milner on an application.
