The Division of Student Affairs is pleased to announce the appointment of Quanisha Kumi-Darfour ’06 as director of Career Services.
Kumi-Darfour is a proud alumna and has served Illinois State for four years as Career Services’ associate director of Student Relations. She also served in several roles within University Housing Services, and the Dean of Students Office. In addition, she actively volunteers for the University, serving as chair of the Civil Service Council and the Association of Black Employees.
“The director of Career Services role is pivotal to Illinois State’s mission of fostering student success and professional growth,” stated Dr. Danielle Miller-Schuster, associate vice president for Student Affairs. “We are excited to welcome Quanisha into this role, whose 13 years of leadership experience will continue to build strong connections with campus stakeholders and employers. Her dedication to students and alumni, along with her hands-on experience in career development, will pave the way for long-lasting benefits for our Redbird community.”
Kumi-Darfour earned a Master of Science degree in higher education from Purdue University Global. She is currently pursuing a doctorate of philosophy in educational administration and foundations, with a focus on leadership equity and inquiry, at Illinois State which she anticipates completing in the coming academic year.
“I am humbled and enthusiastic to serve in this new capacity,” stated Kumi-Darfour. “Career Services is integral in helping students achieve academic and career success and I look forward to the continued elevation of the work we do.”
