Michelle Drouin will focus on the good and bad of a Tinder-fied life where one has endless options in a talk on Thursday, March 29, at Illinois State University.
A professor from the Department of Psychology at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, Drouin will present “Modern Love: Finding your Signal within all the Noise” at 5 p.m. in Schroeder Hall, room 130. The event is free and open to the public.
Drouin is a developmental psychologist and a relationship and technology expert. Her interest areas include the effects of technology on literacy, communication, and relationships as well as the prevalence of sexting. Her work also focuses on the roles of technology in teaching and learning. In her talk, Drouin will explore if technology has led humanity to overlook other important things in life like genuine friendships, family connections, and true love.
The event is sponsored by Illinois State’s College of Arts and Sciences Interdisciplinary Initiative and the ISU Interdisciplinary Research Group on Personal Relationships. The event has also received assistance from Illinois State’s Departments of Psychology, Sociology-Anthropology, Communication, Family and Consumer Sciences, and from the College of Applied Science and Technology.
