Christopher Priest, the first African American editor and writer of comic books, will be coming to Illinois State University from 3-5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, in Stevenson Hall, room 101.
Priest’s work includes various Marvel and DC Comics, most notably his significant contributions to the Black Panther series. Priest entered the comics industry as a Marvel Comics intern in 1978 and joined the editorial staff in 1979. Later, he moved to DC Comics, and eventually helped to launch Milestone Media. He has also written several novels, does work as a singer-songwriter, and is a music producer.
The talk is sponsored by the Illinois Art Station, and Illinois State University’s Department of English, School of Communication, and Department of Psychology. The event is part of the Heroes Rising series and COM Week.
