The Center for a Sustainable Water Future is hosting an interdisciplinary water-themed lecture series this year with the lectures delivered via Zoom.
Dr. Prasanta Kalita
Dr. Prasanta Kalita, professor of agricultural and biological engineering and director of the Appropriate Scale Mechanization Consortium at the University of Illinois, is the second speaker in the series. Kalita will present “Water resources management and environmental sustainability: A global perspective” at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10. This event is free and open to the public, and those interested can register here.
Kalita has been a presidential fellow of the University of Illinois and previously served as the director of the ADM Institute, associate dean for academic programs, and assistant dean of research in the College of ACES. A distinguished teacher scholar at Illinois, Kalita is a fellow of the ASABE and ISAE.
His expertise includes water resources management and environmental sustainability, food security and agricultural mechanization, and curriculum development for higher education. He has worked extensively in institutional and program development, as well as capacity building. Kalita served as a consultant for FAO as well as editor-in-chief and associate editor for three international journals. He is widely recognized for his excellence in teaching, research, international engagement, leadership, and service with over 40 honors and awards.
