The School Street Food Pantry, which serves college students in Bloomington-Normal who are experiencing food insecurity, is in great need of food and supplies.
A drive-thru food drive, named Redbirds Care, will be held to support the School Street Food Pantry from 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday, April 9, at the Normal First United Methodist Church at 211 N. School St.
The Redbirds Care is a co-operative initiative by the Civil Service Council, the Administrative Professional Council, and the Food Insecurity Committee of ISU. Those donating are asked to enter the parking lot off Locust Street, and to have donations ready to be removed from the back seat or trunk of the vehicle as donors drive through the lot.
The list of items needed includes tomato or pasta sauce, canned chicken, canned tuna, canned tomatoes or beans, baking mixes, boxed cereal (20 oz. or smaller), and gluten-free items. Also needed are personal care items like shampoo, soap/body wash, and deodorant. Monetary donations are accepted also.
