Mark Jackson ’87 has made a career of the unexpected; in fact, he’s made two. After graduating from Illinois State University’s College of Business with a degree in finance, Jackson had no plans for a career in the military or law enforcement, but both professions turned out to be prominent in his life story.

Illinois State University will hold its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Thursday, November 11, at noon in the Prairie Rooms of the Bone Student Center.
Eddie Becker, an Information Systems –System analytics student; Mathew Weiner ’20, a recent Computer Science graduate; Erik Wenth, a Cybersecurity student; Zach Oettle, a student of Networking and Telecommunications Management; and Ryan Skare, an Information Systems student with a focus on Web Application Development were teamed up randomly in IT 391- last summer and completed a successful project for a local business – The Recipe Girls.
The social will provide networking and information to students interested in STEM fields. Scholarship winners will be announced at the social. Applications for scholarships are due November 3.
The dates are set for students and alumni to connect with employers at the 2022 spring career fairs.
The celebration honors First Generation Week, a campus-wide tribute to the contributions and achievements of students, faculty, staff, and alumni who were the first in their families to enter higher education.
