In service to others: ROTC, COB alum a leader in two career fields

Mark Jackson ’87 has made a career of the unexpected; in fact, he’s made two. After graduating from Illinois State University’s College of Business with a degree in finance, Jackson had no plans for a career in the military or law enforcement, but both professions turned out to be prominent in his life story.

Eddie Becker, an Information Systems –System analytics student; Mathew Weiner ’20, a recent Computer Science graduate; Erik Wenth, a Cybersecurity student; Zach Oettle, a student of Networking and Telecommunications Management; and Ryan Skare, an Information Systems student with a focus on Web Application Development were teamed up randomly in IT 391- last summer and completed a successful project for a local business – The Recipe Girls.

The College of Applied Science and Technology and the Department of Agriculture are sincerely grateful for the recent investment by Compeer Financial that contributed to a complete renovation of the Farm classroom. The ribbon was cut on October 12, 2021, in a formal ceremony attended by representatives of Compeer Financial, the College of Applied Science and Technology, and the Department of Agriculture.
