Peace Corps hosts major application drive, September 17
The Peace Corps seeks applicants to fill hundreds of requests for volunteers in programs worldwide to begin service in spring and summer 2020. On Sept.17, Peace Corps recruiters will hold more than 70 application workshops nationwide.
Returned Peace Corps volunteers ready for grad school
The Stevenson Center’s newest Peace Corps Fellows are arriving on campus. These students will pursue master’s degrees in anthropology, applied economics, kinesiology and recreation, political science, or sociology, with an emphasis on community and economic development. Two of the incoming Peace Corps Fellows bring unique experiences to Illinois State.

The Stevenson Center will soon welcome a new class of graduate students pursuing degrees in applied economics, political science, sociology, anthropology, or kinesiology and recreation with a sequence in applied community and economic development.
Teaching overseas with Peace Corps
Peace Corps volunteers serve communities worldwide in six different sectors, or kinds of jobs. The largest sector is education, which has given Illinois State graduates Max Plonczynski and Alejandra Villalobos the perfect setting to put their teaching skills to the test.

Offering interdisciplinary, applied master’s programs for Peace Corps Fellows and Applied Community and Economic Development Fellows, the Stevenson Center prepares students for successful careers in community and economic development.
Peace Corps + graduate degree = meaningful career
Stevenson Center alum and returned Peace Corps Volunteer Michael Hotard has used his applied economics master’s degree to serve the U.S. Department of Labor, the nonprofit Civic Pulse, and Stanford University since graduating from Illinois State ten years ago.
ACED Fellow integrates experiences and curriculum in the fight to end homelessness
Katie Spoden, an Applied Community and Economic Development Fellow in political science, is drawing on her AmeriCorps VISTA service and graduate classes to advance the work of the Alliance to End Homelessness in Suburban Cook County.
Stevenson Center AmeriCorps members revved up for AmeriCorps Week
AmeriCorps Week is a celebration and acknowledgement of the impact AmeriCorps members have on their communities. Stevenson Center AmeriCorps members marked the occasion by helping local scouts with the annual Pinewood Derby.
