Obsidian: Literature & Arts in the African Diaspora is the recipient of a grant awarded by the Amazon Literary Partnership Literary Magazine Fund administered by the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses (CLMP).
This $5,000 grant will support Obsidian’s upcoming Black Listening Print + Audio project.
Obsidian’s project is among 19 across the United States selected by CLMP on behalf of the Amazon Literary Project.
“CLMP is extremely grateful to the Amazon Literary Partnership for providing support to literary magazines, which, like all publishers, continue to face the ongoing challenges of supply chain disruptions and rising production costs, but with fewer resources,” said CLMP Executive Director Mary Gannon, who called the literary magazine “essential to the publishing ecosystem.”
Since its inception in 2009, the mission of the Amazon Literary Partnership has been to support organizations vital to sustaining the literary culture of communities and to connect writers with their readers, noted Al Woodworth, manager of the Amazon Literary Partnership. “There are so many vibrant literary magazines publishing today, and we’re thrilled to work with the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses on the Literary Magazine Fund to help fund this field.”
