As you round spring break and head into the latter half of the semester, learning and development opportunities (both in-person and virtual) will focus on individual and team goals, digital literacy, and financial wellness. All opportunities are featured on the Human Resources learning and development calendar, and registration can be completed there.

  • Customer Service–Hospitality in Higher Education
    April 5, 11 a.m.-noon
    • Individualized attention is not only one of Illinois State’s core values, but it is critical to the customer experience. A panel of colleagues from Admissions, Alumni Engagement, Housing, and University Police will provide insight on how customer service plays a role in their daily operations and share what they are doing to achieve superior customer service.
  • Building Teams and Boosting Morale
    April 11, 9-10 a.m.
    • Teamwork embodies Illinois State’s core value of collaboration. A panel of colleagues from Admissions, Athletics, and Housing will share what they are doing to build teams and boost morale in their respective units on campus.
  • Eat That Frog: Strategies to Stop Procrastination & Improve Time Management
    April 12, 11 a.m.-noon
    • There just isn’t enough time for everything that needs to get done. Explore time management techniques and ways to stop procrastination.

Improving your technical skills in Excel and work smarter!

  • Excel I
    April 5 or 6, 9 a.m.-noon
    • Get an introduction to Excel with topics including basic features, editing, formatting, filtering, and printing.
  • Excel II
    April 19 or 20, 9 a.m.-noon
    • Then, dig deeper to create charts and graphs, “If” statements, and pivot tables to summarize values.

Fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

  • Understanding Digital Accessibility in the Workplace
    March 28, 1:30-3 p.m.
    • A web accessibility coordinator will guide you through various ways to improve your digital content and create documents/web content/social media that are universally designed for everyone at Illinois State.
  • Trauma-Informed Practices in Higher Education
    March 30, 10-11:30 a.m.
    • Understand how the biopsychosocial impacts of trauma impair functioning. Identify potential trauma responses and available support for students.
