The Illinois State University West African Drumming and Dance Ensemble, directed by Dr. Ama Oforiwaa Aduonum, will present its 24th end-of-semester concert at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 20, in Kemp Recital Hall.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be in person and streamed live. Watch the live stream here.

West African drums carry deep, symbolic meanings. They are for ceremony, celebration, and the sharing of stories. The performance will feature live drumming, singing, dancing, storytelling, and lots of audience participation.
